About Reiki

Origins of Reiki

Reiki was founded by Dr. Mikao Usui in the early 1920s. Dr. Usui, a Japanese Buddhist monk and educator, developed Reiki after a transformative spiritual experience during a meditation retreat on Mount Kurama. During this retreat, he received the knowledge and ability to heal with universal (rei) life energy (ki). Following this revelation, Dr. Usui began teaching and practicing Reiki in Kyoto, Japan, and later established a clinic where he treated and trained others in this healing art. Over time, Reiki spread beyond Japan, evolving into various lineages and becoming a widely practiced form of complementary therapy around the world. Its foundational principles of using universal life energy to promote balance, relaxation, and healing continue to guide Reiki practitioners today.

Distant Reiki

Distant Reiki or Remote Reiki, is a practice where energy is sent to a recipient who is not physically present with the practitioner. This method utilises the principle that energy is not limited by space or time, allowing the reiki practitioner to channel healing energy to anyone, anywhere in the world.

Distant Reiki allows individuals who cannot attend in-person sessions due to geographical, physical and scheduling constraints, or just an overall busy life style to receive healing. Recipients can benefit from Reiki in the comfort of their own home, which can enhance relaxation and receptivity to the healing energy.

What to Expect

Initial Consultation

Your session begins with a brief discussion about what has brought you here and what you hope to achieve. This allows us to tailor the experience to your unique needs and intentions.

 

Setting the Space

You will be invited to lay down on a comfortable healing table, where you will be covered with a warm blanket to ensure your comfort. Soothing meditation music will play in the background, creating a serene environment conducive to healing.

 

Beginning the Healing

We start the session with a calming affirmation to set a positive intention. I will then connect with your energy and begin placing my hands in various positions on your body to channel Reiki through your physical form and chakras.

 

Working with the Aura

Following this, I will move my hands away from your body and work through your aura, guided by my intuition and instructions from our Spirit Guides & Angels. This part of the session is highly individualised, as I use techniques best suited to your needs at that moment.

Grounding and Balancing

To conclude the session, I will return to hands-on positions to ground and balance your energy, ensuring you leave feeling centred and revitalised.

What to Wear

For your comfort, please wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothes that allow you to fully relax during the healing process.

 

Sensations and Experiences

During the session, you may experience a range of sensations such as tingling, warmth, or visualizing colors and images in your mind's eye. It is also common for some clients to fall asleep, as the deep relaxation takes over.

 

Post-Session Care

To enhance the healing process, it is important to avoid alcohol and drink plenty of water before and after your session. This helps your body detoxify physically and energetically, maximizing the benefits of your healing experience.
